SCUBA: PADI Discover Scuba Diving
An Introduction to Scuba Diving
Just some three hours after you – a rookie
with no previous scuba diving experience – say “Hello” to your qualified
PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) instructor, you’ll spend
an hour in your new aquatic environment exploring a quiet, beautiful Pacific
cove.
This
introductory scuba diving experience, under the tutelage of a patient and
credentialed PADI dive professional, is definitely the way to get into, and under,
the water quickly and safely. All classes are private and individualized, and at
a pace that’s comfortable for you.
It begins in the classroom, where you learn basic diving theory and become
familiar with your equipment and its uses. Incidentally, all equipment,
classroom and pool sessions, and your instructor’s expertise are included in
this package. Once you’re finished with your classroom lessons, it’s time to
put your new scuba knowledge into practice in the pool. In the pool you will
practice mask clearing, regulator removal, clearing and replacement, buoyancy
control, and swimming correctly, among other things.
When
you’re ready, your same instructor then accompanies you to that quiet cove. You
meet a wide variety of colorful, curious and friendly fishes, explore rocky
crevices, observe jewel morays, and get up close and personal with sea fans and
starfish.
This is a great, fulfilling experience that will stay with you long after you are back on dry land. Your Discover Scuba Diving experience will be registered on-line with PADI, and can count toward a complete Open Water Certification.
This tour is conducted by Underworld Scuba - Scuba
Shack, PADI Dive Center #20008, Km. 15 Blvd. Miguel de la Madrid, Santiago,
Colima, Mexico. They are the longest operating dive store in Manzanillo, with 20
years in the business. For more information, go to
www.divemanzanillo.com or
www.scubamanzanillo.com.
The municipal half-Olympic-size pool is normally used. It has a
depth of 5 ft. on one end, and 10 ft. at the other. With smaller groups of
Discover Scuba students, it may be necessary to change the location of the pool
class for better coordination. Guests staying at
Hotel La Posada in Las Brisas may
take the class at that pool.
